Depersonalizing:

When your potential buyer walks through your door you want to give them a sense of feeling at home! Remember when you bought the house? The excitement and plans you were making as you walked through the house? You were looking at the potential in the house, you weren't looking at the belongings.

So for now you are going to need to take down those personal photos. It's a tough one... I know! It really is necessary. Personal photos are a distraction, and you want your buyers visualizing themselves in their new house.

You have a couple of options. You can take the photos down and patch and paint those holes, to make the wall look nice an neat. You can replace the personal photos in the picture frames with photos of nature, or a landscape photo from a vacation. If you happen to have the original plans to the house, you could frame the plans as a gift to your future buyer.

Let's focus on the fact that you are moving, and this is not going to be your house anymore. Start dreaming of the new plans, and how you can include your favorite items into your new space.

"When photographing (or showing) your home, remove all personal items such as family pictures, sports memorabilia, books on political or religious topics, collectibles, and similar items. When a potential buyer sees such photographs, they are more focused on these objects and not your space. Ronique Gibson~Doldash Meridith publishing family 6.5.20
