I know you are so excited about this step, but it is a must! You need to look through a pair of 'buyer's binoculars'. This is your home and you have gotten really comfortable with just how it is, and how it functions for your daily life. You need your new Buyers to be comfortable, and there may need to be some big changes.

Smell is one of the most important things when someone walks into your house. If there is pet or smoke smell your buyer is not going to have a good first impression. Don't mask the smell, get to the root of the issue. Hire a specialist if you have mold, smoke smell, or pet smells. You may need to buy new carpet if have pets. Fixing these issues will help you get top dollar.

Let's make your deep cleaning easier. Of course hiring a cleaner is a great option, but ensure they are scheduled to clean the details such as the blinds, trim, baseboards, & ight fixtures. This is often a must if a seller is not physically up to the task. If you do hire a cleaning company be sure to get recommendations first.

If you are doing the cleaning yourself, I would like to suggest you purchase a box of ' Mr. Clean' magic erasers for the baseboards, trim and doors in your house. I also like to use the magic erasers in the bathroom and kitchen. I often use an old tooth brush for around the faucets, around the toilet seat & the base of the toilet. The Kitchen and Bathrooms are where you should spend the most of your time cleaning.

Another suggestion is using a razor blade to clean up paint jobs, scraping out old caulking around the bathtubs, sinks & base of the toilets. Use a disposable glove to apply new caulking to give the area a clean and fresh feel.

If you have missing grout or dingy areas, you can purchase a tube of colored grout from your favorite home improvement store. Cut the tip at an angle, squeeze the grout into the areas needed & swipe the grout line with your gloved finger. Use cloth to wipe away any excess grout.

If you have cabinets that are looking shabby, you can add a new coat of paint or if you have stained cabinets you can touch up the cabinets with "Wood Finish" stain markers. They come in all different colors of stain. They are really handy and make a big difference in touching up scuffs and scratches on your cabinets or furniture. When using the stain markers, you will need to shake it & apply the stain on one scratch at a time. Be sure to use a cloth to wipe off the excess stain.

If you pay attention to the details, your buyers will notice and you will reap the rewards.
